DENTISTRY Our vets are happy to check and rasp your horse’s teeth. It can be particularly important in older horses. Wolf teeth can be an issue for some horses, interfering with the action of the bit. These teeth can usually be removed relatively easily under sedation. For more complicated problems we have an Equine Dentist – Simon Viewig - who holds regular clinics at the practice. FARRIER SERVICE It cannot be emphasised enough how important good shoeing is in keeping horses sound. Poor foot balance can often cause lameness or worsen an existing problem. Our practice farrier is Beckie Mabbutt. She works regularly at the clinic trimming and shoeing problem cases using a wide variety of corrective techniques. In some cases X-rays are needed to guide in the trimming of a problem foot. Horses requiring sedating for the farrier are also brought to the clinic or the vets will attend to sedate on your yard. |
